South Korean steel producer POSCO sold a total of about 1.08 million tons of cold-rolled galvanized sheet in January of the new year, down by 2.4% from the previous month and 12% from the previous year.
Among them, domestic sales accounted for about 480,000 tonnes, increasing by 9% m-o-m and 2% y-o-y. However, exports decreased by about 10% m-o-m and 20% y-o-y to 595,000 tonnes, leading to a decrease in total sales.
Market representatives said the decrease in January sales was mainly due to more domestic sales due to increasing steel prices and the heavy burden on exports. However, with the revived sheet metal markets, this month's sales are expected to increase.
