POSCO aims to produce using hydrogen technology by 2050

POSCO aims to produce all steel with hydrogen technology by 2050.

South Korea's POSCO aims to complete the commercialization of HyREX technology by 2030 and base its production at its Pohang and Gwangyang steel plants entirely on hydrogen reduction technology by 2050.

In July 2022, POSCO signed an agreement with UK-based Primetals to build a HyREX test facility, scheduled for completion in 2026. POSCO also planned to replace existing production methods, such as blast furnaces, with HyREX 1 at its Pohang plant in 2033.
