Pig iron imports to Türkiye decreased by 16.3% in January-August period

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute, Türkiye's pig iron imports amounted to 42,908 thousand tonnes in August this year, down 69.5% y-o-y and 68.1% m-o-m. In this month, the total value of Türkiye's pig iron imports decreased by 73.9% y-o-y and 65.6% m-o-m to $19.74 million.

Meanwhile, pig iron imports to Türkiye in the January-August period of this year decreased by 16.3% y-o-y to 869,768 tonnes, while revenues from these imports decreased by 37% y-o-y to $406.99 million. It decreased by 5 per cent compared to the same period of 2022.

During this period, Türkiye imported 621,452 tonnes of cast iron from Russia, 8.2% less than last year. Russia was the leading source of pig iron imports to Türkiye key during the same period, followed by Ukraine, which supplied 76,580 tonnes of pig iron.
