Overview of Russian pig iron exports for July 2023

Italy accounted for the largest share of Russia's pig iron exports with 3 806 thousand tons, followed by Türkiye with 1 190 thousand tons.

Ural Steel became the main pig iron exporter with 3 443 398 tons of exports. NLMK took the second place with 1 177 957 tons of exports.

The production of pig iron in Russia is a large branch of the Russian ferrous metallurgy. On March 15, 2022, the EU, in response to the NWO in Ukraine, imposed a ban on the import of a wide range of Russian steel products. The list includes hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel products, long products, some types of welded and seamless pipes. In early October, the EU decided to impose a ban on the import of steel semi-finished products from Russia - slabs and square billets, but it will only come into force in 2024. But European sanctions do not apply to pig iron.
