Outokumpu and Klöckner collaborate on low-emission steel products

The first batch of stainless steel coils from Outokumpu's Circle Green product line, which will be launched in larger volumes from 2023, aimed at decarbonizing the industrial sector, has been delivered.

Outokumpu said that the Circle Green product is the first of its kind in the world considering the carbon dioxide emissions in the entire production chain, that no other stainless steel manufacturer produces stainless steel with such low emissions, and the aim is to increase energy efficiency all over the world. In 2023 and 2024 the group will increase by 8%, which will save approximately 600 GWh of energy.

Klöckner said Outokumpu has placed its Circle Green product in the Prime category, thereby expanding its portfolio of CO2-reducing materials under its new parent brand Nexigen.
