According to the new regulation, tariffs for the products in question will be calculated based on the full value of the imported products instead of artificially low foreign prices. Additionally, the tariff system for processed or derivative products has been simplified.
While the 50% tariffs applied to raw steel, aluminum, and copper are maintained, the customs duties to be applied to derivative products manufactured using these metals will be determined according to the product's content. A 25% customs duty based on full value will be applied to derivative products manufactured largely from steel, aluminum, or copper.
For certain metal-intensive industrial equipment and electrical grid equipment, the tariff rate will be applied as 15% until the end of 2027.
According to the regulation, products manufactured abroad but produced using entirely American steel, aluminum, and copper will be subject to 10% lower customs duties.
On the other hand, products containing 15% or less steel, aluminum, or copper in their content will be exempt from tariffs under Section 232.
