According to information received by SteelRadar, the attack took place around 16:00, and missiles struck critical sections of all three factories. The statement noted that, in addition to steel production facilities, recovery units and two power plants were also targeted. In this context, it was emphasized that the factories’ operations have been disrupted and that serious interruptions in production processes may occur. It was reported that two factories were targeted first, followed by an attack on Hormozgan Steel.
Valiollah Hayati stated that the attack would directly affect the automotive, white goods, and construction sectors, as well as steel exports exceeding $2 billion. Experts warned that such attacks could have long-term impacts on both production and price stability. In the short term, disruptions in steel supply and rising costs across the sector are expected due to the attack.
It was reported that an investigation into the incident is ongoing, and while there are injuries and fatalities, no exact figures have been provided. Authorities announced that security measures have been increased and that continuous assessments are being made regarding the condition of the factories.
Khouzestan Steel, Mobarakeh Steel, and Hormozgan Steel are among Iran’s largest and most critical steel production facilities. The attack poses a threat to the country’s iron and steel production and export revenues, while also creating significant uncertainty in the industrial sector. The normalization of production and logistics processes may take days or weeks, depending on the extent of the damage caused by the attack.
