Hosted by the Ministry of National Defense, with the support of the Presidency of Defense Industries and organized by KFA Fuarcılık AŞ under the management of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation (TSKGV), the IDEF fair at the Istanbul Expo Center welcomed Minister Bolat, who toured the stands and received information about the products from officials.
Emphasizing that IDEF has become one of the most prestigious fairs in Türkiye’s history, Bolat stated that the event is not merely a fair, but also a symbol of Türkiye’s rise in technology and industry.
“Participation from Over a Hundred Countries”
Minister Bolat highlighted that IDEF 2025 brings together companies from Asia, Europe, and the Americas. “This event showcases the current state of Türkiye’s economy and industry to the entire world. Thanks to our defense industry, our overall industrial sector is gaining more global recognition,” he said.
Bolat noted that in 2024, exports of defense industry products and services reached $7.15 billion, with the target for 2025 set to exceed $8 billion. He added that exports surpassed $3.5 billion in the first half of the year and that they expect this momentum to increase in the second half.
Defense Industry: A Source of Employment and Added Value
Bolat stated that the defense industry provides employment for around 100,000 people across the country and has reached an annual production volume of $20 billion. He reminded that the Turkish defense industry currently exports to over 100 countries, noting that this success positively contributes to all industrial sectors.
Bolat emphasized that Türkiye has now become one of the strongest defense industry nations in the Eurasian region. “Countries from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and South America are showing great interest in Turkish defense products. Our advancement in this field is not only economic but also critically important for our national independence,” he said.
“A Strong Defense Industry Means a Strong Türkiye”
Minister Bolat noted that Türkiye has maintained its stability despite crises and wars in the region, thanks to a strong military, a robust economy, and a resilient defense industry.
Stating that the IDEF fair serves as a showcase to the world, Bolat said, “Seeing companies from Western countries, Asia, and the Americas here is proof that the fair has now become a global brand.”
Finally, Bolat stated that the export value per kilogram in the defense industry has reached $68, with the initial goal being to raise this figure to $100. He added that the potential in this field is limitless.
