According to the company statement, Metso will deliver mineral processing equipment for a magnetite concentrator with a capacity of 30 million tons. The financial value of the order was not disclosed, and it was recorded in Metso’s Minerals segment order intake for the fourth quarter of 2025.
The delivery package includes one Superior™ MKIII 50-65 primary gyratory crusher, six Nordberg® HP900™ cone crushers, two vertical grinding mills with a total installed power of 5.6 MW, and one HRT high rate thickener. Metso will also provide engineering, manufacturing, procurement, installation and commissioning support, along with spare parts supply.
The vertical grinding mills and the high rate thickener will be delivered as part of the Metso Plus portfolio. This portfolio offers solutions designed to help customers improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance overall production efficiency.
Xun Fang, vice president responsible for mining sales in Metso’s Greater China region, stated that Metso will provide comprehensive support to LRMG through its advanced proprietary mineral processing technologies, global service network, and extensive project execution experience. Fang emphasized that Metso is committed to supporting Leone Rock Metal Group in achieving efficient, stable, and sustainable operations. He also noted that Metso had previously supplied two high rate thickeners for the first and second phases of the Tonkolili project, adding that this third phase cooperation reflects the ongoing trust and close collaboration between the two parties.
Leone Rock Metal Group operates in mining, processing, transportation, and steel production. Located in the northern region of Sierra Leone, the Tonkolili iron ore project is the country’s largest iron ore mine, with reserves estimated at approximately 13.7 billion tons. Once the facility is completed, it is targeted to process 30 million tons of ore annually and produce around 10 million tons of iron concentrate.
