McPhy will supply electrolyzer to Germany's ArcelorMittal

French manufacturer McPhy will supply two 1MW hydrogen electrolysis plants to ArcelorMittal Eisenhuttenstadt in East Germany.

McPhy will supply electrolyzer to Germany's ArcelorMittal

The companies signed a five-year agreement for the joint construction and maintenance of a pilot hydrogen infrastructure for the enterprise. It has been announced that the agreement will come into service in 2024.

It was stated that the hydrogen produced in the infrastructure and electrolysis facilities will be used in the production of metal products in the cold rolling mill in the first place. Later, however, lifts and trucks designed for this purpose will begin to refuel with hydrogen fuel.

The ArcelorMittal Group is slowly starting to decarbonize its operations in Europe. In early April, the Spanish government gave it a subsidy of 450m euros for this purpose. At the same time, ArcelorMittal Poland announced the start of modernization of coke production in Poland.
