Lukoil acquires Petronas' stake in Shah Deniz

It has been reported that Russian oil company Lukoil has signed an agreement to purchase a 15.5 percent stake belonging to Petronas company in Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz natural gas field.

Lukoil increased its share in the Shah Deniz natural gas field to 25.5 percent. In the statement made by Lukoil, it was stated that the company signed an agreement for the purchase of a 15.5% stake belonging to Petronas in the Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea, off the coast of Azerbaijan.

It was noted that with the said agreement, Lukoil's share in the Shah Deniz field increased from 10 percent to 25.5 percent, and the price of the agreement with Petronas was $2.25 billion.

Vagit Alekperov, CEO of Lukoil, commented in the statement, "The increase in our share in the Shah Deniz project creates new opportunities for synergies in promising sectors in our national economies." used the phrase.

BP is the operator with a 28.8 percent stake in the Shah Deniz natural gas field off the coast of Azerbaijan, while TPAO has 19 percent, AzSD 10 percent, NICO 10 percent and SGC company 6.7 percent.
