In 2022, the port of Liepaja (Latvia) increased the transfer of iron and manganese ores by 11.5 times compared to 2021, to 58.7 thousand tons.
The total cargo endorsement of Liepaja port in 2022 was 7.61 million tons. This is 7.8% more than in 2021.
The Liepaja port is one of the three largest ports in Latvia, located on the Baltic Sea coast. While the port of Liepaja processed 5.1 thousand tons of iron and manganese ore in 2021, it did not process these products in 2020.
Last year, the transfer of other metals at the Latvian port decreased by 43.3% to 9.5 thousand tons, compared to 2021. Processing of ferrous metals amounted to 3 thousand tons, non-ferrous metals amounted to 129.1 thousand tons, and ferrous alloys amounted to 17.8 thousand tons. In total, in the 12 months of 2022, the port of Liepaja processed 218.1 thousand tons of iron-steel cargo compared to the previous year.
