Liberty Steel is looking for buyers of its plants

JSW Steel, ArcelorMittal and NLMK are considering the acquisition of two Liberty Steel plants in Belgium.

Liberty Steel is looking for buyers of its plants
India's JSW Steel wants to buy the facilities of ArcelorMittal and the British Liberty Steel group, which owns the Russian group NLMK, Tilleur and Flemalle factories.
The Liberty Liege Flemalle plant is equipped with two production lines for hot-dip galvanizing and the production of up to 1 million galvanized steels per year, and its capacity makes it possible to produce up to 200,000 tons of sheet metal per year.
With Liberty Liege on the verge of bankruptcy in 2022, the Belgian government has rejected its financial support. Following this, Liberty Steel offered to sell 49% of Liberty Liege's assets to state-owned investment firm Sogepa, but this idea was rejected by the court. The court in December gave Liberty Liege owners until April 2023 to find buyers for their facility.
