The company’s consolidated crude steel production reached 30.08 million tonnes in fiscal year 2026, compared to 27.79 million tonnes in fiscal year 2025. Including JSW Sambalpur Steel Limited, combined production totaled 30.14 million tonnes.
Production from Indian operations increased by 8% from 26.98 million tonnes to 29.25 million tonnes, while output at JSW Steel USA Ohio rose from 0.81 million tonnes to 0.83 million tonnes. JSW Sambalpur Steel Limited produced 0.06 million tonnes in fiscal year 2026.
The company made significant investments throughout the year as part of its capacity expansion program. Modernization works at the Salem plant were completed, and one of the casters was upgraded in January 2026. In February 2026, a new ladle furnace and vacuum degasser were commissioned. Following these investments, the plant’s capacity was increased from 1.0 million tonnes to 1.15 million tonnes as of March 2026.
Capacity utilization at the company’s combined Indian operations stood at approximately 92% for the full year excluding BF-3 capacity, and 87% including BF-3.
In the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2026, the company’s total crude steel production amounted to 7.49 million tonnes. During the same period, Indian operations produced 7.28 million tonnes, while consolidated production reached 7.43 million tonnes and combined production totaled 7.49 million tonnes. On a quarterly basis, consolidated production declined by 1%, while on an annual basis it fell by 3%. Indian operations recorded a 2% year-on-year decrease.
In the fourth quarter, capacity utilization at the combined Indian operations stood at approximately 96% excluding BF-3 and 87% including BF-3.
Meanwhile, Blast Furnace No. 3 (BF-3) at the Vijayanagar plant has remained shut since the end of September 2025 due to capacity enhancement works. These maintenance and modernization activities affected both annual and quarterly production and capacity utilization rates.
As part of the company’s strategic initiatives, the steel business of its subsidiary Bhushan Power and Steel Limited was transferred to JSW Sambalpur Steel Limited on a slump sale basis effective March 27, 2026, in line with the planned joint venture with Japan-based JFE Steel. Following the transfer, production figures have been disclosed separately, while combined production data includes them for comparison purposes.
