JSW Steel's crude steel output increases 17% in the second quarter

JSW Steel, one of India’s leading integrated steel producers, reported consolidated crude steel production of 7.90 million tons in the second quarter (July–September) of the 2025-26 fiscal year.

This represents a 17% increase compared with the same period last year and a 9% rise from the previous quarter.

Capacity utilization at the company’s India operations stood at 92% during the quarter. Key figures include 7.66 million tons from India operations and 0.24 million tons from the Ohio plant in the US, bringing consolidated output to a record 7.90 million tons.

JSW Steel’s subsidiary JVML commissioned its second converter on 30 August 2025, raising total crude steel capacity in India to 34.2 MTPA. Additionally, the planned 150-day shutdown of Blast Furnace No. 3 at Vijayanagar increased hot metal capacity from 3 MTPA to 4.5 MTPA. The integrated 5 MTPA operation at JVML reached 88% capacity utilization in September 2025.

In the first half of fiscal 2026, India operations produced 14.69 million tons, while the US Ohio plant contributed 0.48 million tons. Consolidated production reached 15.16 million tons, a 16% increase compared with the same period last year.

JSW Steel has achieved record production levels while maintaining high capacity utilization. The company continues to expand its capacities and optimize operations, positioning itself strongly to meet growing steel demand in India and international markets.

Historically, JSW Steel’s stock returns have also performed positively, with a 14.71% increase over the past year and a 300.55% rise over the past five years.
