Annual capacity of 500,000 tons
JSW Steel Ltd. has selected international technology group ANDRITZ to supply a continuous galvanizing line for its steel plant in Toranagallu, Karnataka, India.
The line will have an annual production capacity of approximately 500,000 tons and will be capable of processing steel strip up to 1,900 mm wide and 2.60 mm thick. The line will also be able to produce advanced high-strength steel (AHSS) grades with tensile strengths of up to 1,480 MPa.
Designed for processing speeds of up to 180 meters per minute, the line is scheduled to be commissioned in 2028.
Production for the automotive sector
The new galvanizing line will produce high-quality galvanized steel for demanding automotive applications.
AHSS is among the key materials used in lighter and safer vehicle designs, as it combines low weight with high strength. The new line will enable JSW Steel to increase its production capacity to meet growing demand from the automotive sector and expand its portfolio of value-added steel products.
ANDRITZ to supply complete line
ANDRITZ’s scope of supply includes the engineering, manufacturing and supply of the complete line, including terminal equipment, the chemical cleaning section, furnace, coating pot and post-pot cooling unit, as well as the skin-pass mill, tension leveling line and finishing section.
Designed to meet automotive quality standards, the line will provide solutions to ensure consistent surface quality, coating control and metallurgical properties.
