Jindal Stainless' stainless steel used in Vande Bharat sleeper coaches

Vande Bharat sleepers manufactured by Integral Coach Factory (ICF) and Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) use high-strength tempered 301LN grade austenitic stainless steel supplied by Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL), one of India's leading stainless steel manufacturers. This type of steel has excellent corrosion resistance, which can reduce costs over its long lifetime. It also offers superior protection against emergencies such as collisions and fire, improving passenger safety and maintaining safety standards in rail transportation.

Grade 301LN austenitic stainless steel also reduces the weight of each wagon by around two tonnes, increasing energy efficiency and reducing the carbon footprint, contributing to the sustainability goals of modern rail transport.
