Japan’s industrial production increased by 1.4% in October

The Japanese government released industrial production data for October. According to the figures, Japan’s industrial production rose by 1.4% compared to the previous month, driven by a strong increase in automobile production.

Japan’s industrial production increased by 1.4% in October

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) noted that the increase following the upwardly revised 2.6% growth in September was driven by a 6.6% rise in the motor vehicle sector.

According to METI data, growth was recorded in nine of the 15 surveyed sectors, including electrical machinery and information & communication electronic equipment, while five sectors, including electronic components and devices, experienced a decline.

Ministry officials emphasized that manufacturers remain concerned about the outlook due to factors such as the U.S.’s fluctuating tariff policies and weak domestic demand. METI maintained its previous month’s baseline assessment for industrial production, noting that output has “fluctuated in an unstable manner.”
