Iran's pellet production declines for the first time in a decade

Iran's pellet production has encountered a significant setback after nine years of steady expansion. The past year witnessed a substantial decline of approximately one million tons, marking a notable departure from the previous trend of continuous growth in the industry. Experts speculate that various factors may have contributed to this unexpected downturn, reshaping the landscape of pellet production in the region.

Over the course of eight years, Iran's pellet production demonstrated a remarkable upward trajectory, showcasing a steady expansion from 20.76 million tons in the year 2013 to an impressive 56.13 million tons in 2021.

In an unexpected turn, Iran experienced its first annual decline in pellet production over the past decade. In 2022, the nation's pellet production saw a significant reduction by one million and 180 thousand tons, settling at 54 million and 320 thousand tons. This decrease marks a notable departure from the consistent growth observed in previous years.
