Steel is one of the commodities offered through the Iranian Mercantile Exchange (IME).
The Iranian steel industry, which plays an important role in both the realization of the country's motto of being self-sufficient and the increase in non-oil exports, has been on a development route in recent years.
Reports published by well-known international organizations such as the World Steel Association (WSA) show how the Iranian steel industry is constantly evolving in the face of all the pressures and obstacles created by external forces, such as US sanctions and the coronavirus epidemic, which has seriously affected US performance.
The steel industry is developing noticeably and with the implementation of different projects in recent years, a good market has been formed for steel and steel products, but there is still some debate on prices and some disagreements between the upstream and downstream industries.
Presenting the complete steel chain in the Iranian Commodity Exchange is said to be the solution to this problem.
This strategy is believed to put an end to all difficulties in terms of price as it will allow the market to discover the real price while considering the benefits of up and down units.
As IME General Manager Hamed Soltaninejad has stated, IME paves the way for transparent competition.
According to Soltaninejad, "Transparency should not only be for some sectors of the industry, but the entire industry, including the sub-sector, should be transparent".
