The steelmaker's flat product output rose 25% year on year to 1.2 million tons, while long rolled product output rose 5% to 354,000 tons.
JSW Steel said that the company has started to purchase electricity from renewable sources for its Vijayanagar operations since April as part of its long-term power purchase agreement with Indian private sector entity JSW Energy.
India's crude steel production in April rose 3.1 percent year on year to 9.85 million tons, while finished steel production rose 0.9 percent year on year to 9.35 million tons.
JSW Steel's subsidiary, JSW Utkal Steel, received an environmental permit last month to build an integrated plant with a capacity of 13.2 million tons/year in the East Indian state of Odisha.
