According to the Turkish Steel Producers Association (TÇÜD), the growth in exports was particularly notable in semi-finished and long products, while increases in flat products remained limited.
Semi-finished product exports rose from 289,967 tons in 2024 to 497,600 tons in 2025, marking a 71.6% increase. Long semi-finished products led this growth, with volume increasing 233.7% and value 125.1%. Exports of flat semi-finished products, however, decreased 81.3%. On the import side, semi-finished products increased 16.2%; long semi-finished products increased 29.5% and flat semi-finished products 4.3%.
Flat product exports totaled 5.48 million tons, increasing 11%. Hot-rolled flat products (width >=600mm) increased 27.5%, while cold-rolled flat products (width >600mm) decreased 26.9%. Coated flat products with width >=600mm increased only 1.6%, while those <600mm decreased 0.2%. Stainless steel flat products with width >=600mm increased 18.5% in exports. On the import side, flat products increased 11.4% to 7.50 million tons, with coated flat products <600mm surging 142.7% and coated flat products >=600mm increasing 38.9%.
Long product exports reached 6.57 million tons in the first 10 months of 2025, increasing 10.9%. While filament exports remained stable year-on-year, bars increased 19.7%, sections 3.7%, wires 12.9%, and rails 95.9%. Railway fasteners also increased significantly, by 10.6%. Long product imports increased 15.6% to 1.26 million tons, with particularly strong gains in sections (+61.8%), rails (+44.9%), and railway fasteners (+129.8%).
