In 2024, the Philippines' position in China's exports grew

According to 2024 data, China's exports to the Philippine market increased by 20.8% y-o-y to 869 thousand tons. Total exports of 5.05 million tons increased by 68.9% compared to 2020.

Exports of 996.6 thousand tons of profiled steel products to the Philippines accounted for 32% of China's total exports, while exports of 465 thousand tons of coated steel products accounted for 9.8% of total exports. Thus, the Philippines, where 41.8% of total exports were made, had the largest slice of China's exports.

The high proportion of China's exports to the Philippines shows how essential steel imports are for the Philippines. The largest share behind this basic need belongs to the construction sector, which accounts for 80% of steel consumption, followed by the metal products sector with 15%.
