Hydnum Steel (HS), a Spanish steel giant, announced a significant step towards introducing green steel production to the Iberian Peninsula. The company has started construction on the first green steel plant in Puertollano, Castilla-La Mancha.

Hydnum Steel: Green steel revolution starts in the Iberian Peninsula!

The project is being realized through a collaboration with Helvella investment company, Siemens, ABEI Energy, and Russula Corporation.

This green steel plant not only aims to achieve sustainability goals but also showcases the power of digital innovation. HS and Siemens are pioneering future factories by integrating Digital Twin technology into every stage of the plant, from design to production and even commissioning.

Siemens' advanced technologies contribute to increased efficiency at every step of the production process. The NX software will create a digital model of the plant, enabling optimization during the engineering phase. Additionally, the integration of both IT and OT allows for the instantaneous capture and analysis of valuable data. This provides a crucial tool for making decisions that reduce the environmental footprint.

Eva Maneiro, CEO of HS, states, "This project goes beyond simply producing steel. We are investing in the future by ensuring that our production aligns with global sustainability goals. By integrating Siemens technologies, we are increasing our efficiency while actively contributing to the fight against climate change. Carbon neutrality and competitiveness are no longer contradictory but compatible elements."

Hydnum Steel's green steel plant represents a significant milestone in the sustainability journey of not only Spain but all of Europe. This project demonstrates the power of green technologies and the importance of digital innovation, setting a new standard for future steel production.
