Zhejiang Jiuli and Stella Metal invest in Danieli's extrusion technology

Global demand for seamless tubes made from stainless steel and corrosion resistant alloys (CRA) is growing rapidly, particularly in the oil and gas, chemical, food processing and automotive industries. In order to meet this growing demand, China-based Zhejiang Jiuli Hi-Tech Metals and India-based Stella Metal & Tubes have decided to expand their production capacities. In this context, both companies ordered new generation steel extrusion lines from the Italian company Danieli Breda, which is globally recognized in the field of metal forming technologies.

Zhejiang Jiuli and Stella Metal invest in Danieli's extrusion technology

Chinese producer Zhejiang Jiuli reinforces its cooperation with Danieli Breda with a new investment. The company has ordered a modern extrusion press with a capacity of 20 meganewtons (MN) for the production of seamless stainless steel pipes. The new line is designed to produce high quality seamless stainless steel tubes with diameters ranging from 33 to 68 mm and wall thicknesses from 3 to 8 mm.

This investment follows the upgrade of Zhejiang Jiuli's 35 MN extrusion press to 42 MN, which was previously supplied by Danieli Breda. Thus, the company continuously strengthens its technological infrastructure to respond more efficiently to increasing production demands.

Stella Metal & Tubes sets up capacity in Gujarat

Stella Metal & Tubes, operating in the strategically important industrial state of Gujarat in western India, is making a similar investment. The company has ordered another 20 MN extrusion line from Danieli Breda for the production of seamless stainless steel tubes. This plant, like Jiuli's investment, will produce pipes with a diameter of 33 to 68 mm and a thickness of 3 to 8 mm.

High automation and robotic solutions at the forefront

Both plants will be equipped with advanced automation. Robotic systems will play an active role in critical stages of production, such as tool management, part changeover and cycle control. Tool dimensions will be automatically controlled through precise 3D imaging systems. In addition, temperature measurements at the press outlet will be continuously monitored and recorded. This will minimize fluctuations in process parameters and collect reliable data for post-process analysis.

In addition, these systems, equipped with advanced functions such as data visualization and process optimization, will allow the production cycle to be completed in less than 60 seconds. This will guarantee both high production efficiency and superior product quality.

Planned to be operational in 2026

The production of both extrusion lines will take place in Danieli's workshops in Italy, which have high quality standards. With the completion of delivery and commissioning, the new lines of Zhejiang Jiuli and Stella Metal & Tubes are expected to be fully operational in 2026.

These investments will not only strengthen these two companies, but also the global seamless stainless tube market. Thanks to the state-of-the-art solutions offered by Danieli Breda, the industry is preparing for a more efficient, sustainable and competitive production era.
