Starting April with a drop of EUR 4, UK wire mesh prices started the month hovering around EUR 596. The first week of the month, however, saw a succession of decreases. Last traded at EUR 580 in the week of April 2, wire mesh prices continued to decrease in the week of April 12, falling to EUR 578.
April was witnessing fluctuations. In the week of April 15, prices rose to EUR 584. However, there were consecutive declines on April 16 and 17 and prices steadied at EUR 578 on April 18.
This downward trend continued, market sources said, with the region's steel demand in 2023 falling to its lowest level since 2000 and forecasts for this year revised significantly downwards.
Having started May with a decrease of USD 4, wire mesh fluctuated throughout the week. However, overall, it continued its downward trend in the first week. Market sources said that decreasing demand has a direct impact on wire mesh prices and excess stocks need to be resolved, predicting that sellers will lower prices for a while after they have been fluctuating slightly for a while.
SteelRadar reported the current wire mesh price as 584 USD.
