According to SteelRadar data, the UK wire mesh market started to follow a volatile trend in February. Wire mesh, which started February with a $5 drop from $620 to $615, rebounded in the second week of February, reaching even higher than January's prices of $595.
After trading at $609-610 in the second week of February, wire mesh prices closed last month slightly lower at $605. Having fluctuated with slight changes since the start of the year, the most significant change was a $20 drop on March 1, with UK wire mesh prices trading at $585, according to SteelRadar.
During the first week of March, UK wire mesh also recorded decreases of $6.5 and $9.5, with a current price of $569 on March 5.
Sources noted that the downward trend will continue in the European steel market, adding that the current economic problems are directly affecting the sector and no recovery is expected in the short term.
