According to Ukrmetprom data, Ukraine’s pig iron production rose by 8% year-on-year to 5.11 million tonnes in the January–August 2025 period. In contrast, steel production fell by 6.8% to 4.91 million tonnes.
In the same period, Ukrainian steelmakers’ commercial rolled steel production was recorded at 4.25 million tonnes, down 1.4% compared to the same period last year.
On a monthly basis, rolled steel production in August 2025 increased by 14.7% compared to the previous month and by 7.5% year-on-year, reaching 633.2 thousand tonnes. Pig iron production rose by 8% month-on-month and 16.1% year-on-year to 747.5 thousand tonnes. Steel production, despite a 6% decline compared to the same period last year, increased by 11.9% month-on-month, reaching 649.4 thousand tonnes.
