Vietnam-Italy Steel commissions new mill to produce 500,000 tons of rebar annually

Vietnam-Italy Steel, a subsidiary of Japan-based Kyoei Steel Group, has launched a new high-speed rolling mill in Hai Phong, northern Vietnam, with an annual capacity of 500,000 tonnes of rebar in diameters ranging from 10 to 51 mm.

Vietnam-Italy Steel commissions new mill to produce 500,000 tons of rebar annually

Supplied by Danieli as a greenfield project, the facility enables Vietnam-Italy Steel to deliver high-quality, value-added rebar to the domestic market in bundles. The superior quality is achieved through advanced quenching and self-tempering (QST) processes, while dimensional precision is ensured by a six-pass, multi-drive, high-speed, twist-free finishing block.

Bundle shape consistency is enhanced by Sund Birsta’s automatic wire-binding machines.

Operating in direct charging mode and connected to an existing continuous casting machine—also modernized by Danieli—the new mill uses Danieli Q-Heat induction heaters to equalize billet temperatures. This enables eco-friendly, low-carbon production by minimizing energy consumption between billets.

During the inauguration ceremony, Vietnam-Italy Steel Chairman Meguru Nishimura expressed his satisfaction with Danieli's support and presented the company with an official "Certificate of Achievement."
