At the long products session organized as part of Steel Summit 2025, Türkiye's leading steel producers shared their production capacities, sustainability investments and new generation product visions. In the panel, representatives of İzmir Demir Çelik, Diler Holding and Ekinciler Holding shared the sector's green transformation process, value-added product exports and technological solutions that contribute to construction safety.
“İDÇ maintains market stability with its flexible production model”
Ali Karaköse, Section and Semi-Finished Products Sales Manager of İzmir Demir Çelik (İDÇ), stated that the company has reached a structure that produces high quality and value-added products with an annual liquid steel production capacity of 3.1 million tons. Karaköse noted, "Our section rolling mill is operating at full capacity. We have a strong customer base in the international market. The relative stability in section prices is a result of our planned and flexible supply management."
Emphasizing that İDÇ has adopted a model that is resistant to market fluctuations with its project-based production strategy, Karaköse also drew attention to its green energy investments: "We are increasing our 70 MW SPP project to 140 MW. All our infrastructure is ready for clean steel production."
“Diler Group offers high quality products integrated with circular economy”
Fatih Gökçe, CSO of Diler Holding Iron and Steel Group, stated that they focused on both sustainability and exports with DNA PC STRAND investments within the group. Gökçe stated, "Since 1993, we have continued our capacity increases with quality-oriented investments. Today, we are a premium supplier of concrete steel products in the European and Far East markets."
Stating that circularity is at the center of its vision, Gökçe continued: "We recycle 2.5 million tons of scrap annually. We achieved 900 tons of CO₂ reduction through energy efficiency. We are ready for CBAM with our 97% recycled raw material content and waste-free plant model."
Stating that they meet 20% of the energy needs of the DNA PC STRAND facility from the rooftop SPP, Gökçe emphasized that they aim for 50% renewable energy by 2030 and that they export sustainable performance products from Türkiye to the world.
“Ekinciler makes a difference with seismic steel that prioritizes earthquake safety”
Kaan Özülü, Group Marketing Manager of Ekinciler Holding, stated that they focus on safe construction in the steel industry. Reminding that Türkiye is located in an earthquake zone, Özülü stated, "98% of our industrial zones are under earthquake risk. For this reason, we started to produce seismic steel in 2005. Although it was not included in the regulations at that time, today these products are preferred in the international market with their high performance."
Drawing attention to the advantages of seismic steel such as superior performance in fatigue tests, high corrosion resistance and weldability, Özülü stated that Ekinciler leads the sector with its exports of construction steel both to the domestic market and to countries such as the USA and Brazil.
