According to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), U.S. steel mills shipped a total of 7,854,290 net tons in June 2025. This represents a 9.8% increase compared to June 2024.
Compared to May 2025 shipments, which totaled 7,507,349 net tons, June shipments rose by 4.6%. Looking at the first six months of the year, total steel shipments amounted to 45,139,579 net tons, up 3.2% from 43,759,681 net tons shipped during the same period in 2024.
By product category, shipments of corrosion-resistant sheet and strip increased by 1% in the first half of 2025, while shipments of hot-rolled sheet and strip declined by 2%, and cold-rolled sheet and strip shipments were down by 4%.
