According to information obtained by SteelRadar from USITC data, US scrap exports decreased by 19% in May 2025 compared to the same month last year, decreasing from 1.53 million tons to 1.24 million tons.
This figure showed a 17% increase compared to the previous month, April.
Türkiye was the top destination for U.S. scrap exports in the month in question, with 356,602 tons. Exports to Türkiye decreased by 7.58%. Bangladesh followed with 260,299 tons. Scrap exports to Bangladesh increased by 30.73% from 199,107 tons to 260,299 tons. Exports to India, which ranked third, decreased by 47.49% from 199,579 tons to 104,794 tons. Taiwan ranked fourth. Exports to Taiwan decreased by 1.66%, dropping from 97,223 tons to 95,612 tons.
