US long product exports recorded a decline in December 2023

U.S. exports of long products experienced a significant downturn in December 2023. The figures reveal a total of 3,998 tons exported, marking a substantial 32.5% decrease from November and a notable 16.8% drop compared to December 2022.

In terms of value, December's long product exports amounted to $4.9 million, a decline from $6.9 million recorded in the previous month and $5.6 million reported in December of the preceding year.

Mexico emerged as the leading recipient of U.S. long product exports for December, receiving 2,085 tons. This figure indicates a decrease from 2,859 tons in November and 3,267 tons in December 2022. Canada also featured prominently among the destinations, receiving 1,630 tons of long products during the same period.

The decline in exports raises concerns about the trajectory of U.S. trade in the coming months.
