In its preliminary findings on February 10, 2025, the US Department of Commerce (USDOC) determined that Vietnam provided subsidies to producers and exporters of certain corrosion-resistant steel (CORE) products. In the investigation covering the period of January 1 - December 31, 2023, it was announced that subsidy rates differ according to companies.
At petitioners' request, USDOC is aligning its final subsidy investigation with an investigation examining whether steel products from Vietnam were sold at less than fair value (LTFV). U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will suspend clearance of entries of products under investigation and require cash deposits from the companies involved. However, no tax will be imposed on Hoa Sen Group and Ton Dong A Corporation.
The Ministry of Commerce will announce its final decision on June 17, 2025, after receiving the comments of the relevant parties. It was stated that if significant errors are detected, the preliminary decision will be corrected. It was also mentioned that higher taxes were decided to be applied due to some companies' failure to cooperate.
