According to data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), U.S. domestic crude steel output totaled 1 million 722 thousand net tons during the week ending October 11, 2025, with a capacity utilization rate of 76.0%.
In the same week last year, production was 1 million 589 thousand net tons, and the capacity utilization rate stood at 71.6%, indicating an 8.4% year on year increase in crude steel output.
However, compared to the previous week ending October 4, 2025, production decreased by 1.5%. During that week, output reached 1 million 749 thousand net tons, with a capacity utilization rate of 77.2%.
As of October 11, 2025, adjusted year-to-date crude steel production amounted to 70 million 220 thousand net tons, with an average capacity utilization rate of 77.0%. In the same period last year, production totaled 68 million 526 thousand net tons, and the rate was 75.8%, marking a 2.5% year to date increase in crude steel production.
By region, during the week ending October 11, 2025, production was recorded as follows: 106 thousand net tons in the Northeast, 558 thousand in the Great Lakes region, 222 thousand in the Midwest, 773 thousand in the South, and 63 thousand in the West, bringing the total to 1 million 722 thousand net tons.
