According to data from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), the US's domestic crude steel production reached 1.74 million net tons in the week ending November 1, 2025, with a capacity utilization rate of 76.0%. In the same week last year, production was 1.593 million net tons, with a capacity utilization rate of 71.7%. These figures indicate a 9.2% increase in US crude steel production on an annual basis.
Production decreased by 0.4% compared to the previous week ending October 25, 2025. During that period, production was 1.747 million net tons, while the capacity utilization rate was 76.3%.
As of November 1, 2025, adjusted total crude steel production since the beginning of the year reached 75.470 million net tons, while the average capacity utilization rate reached 77.0%. In the same period last year, these figures were 73 million 298 thousand net tons and 75.8%, respectively. Thus, production has increased by 3.0% since the beginning of the year.
According to regional data, production for the week ending November 1, 2025, was recorded at 122 thousand net tons in the Northeast, 540 thousand net tons in the Great Lakes region, 251 thousand net tons in the Midwest, 773 thousand net tons in the South, and 54 thousand net tons in the West.
