Ukrainian railways increased iron and manganese ore transportation by 2.8% in May

In May 2024, Ukrainian Railways or Ukrzaliznytsia transported 15.54 million tonnes of freight, up 2.2% on the previous month and 34.8% on May 2023. In the structure of export shipments, cereals took the first place - 3.28 million tonnes (43.4%). The second place was taken by iron ore (35.8%), while ferrous metals came third (5.5%).

Export shipments in May totalled 7.55 million tonnes, up 7.4% on the previous month and up 56.7% on May 2023. In the structure of export shipments, cereals took the first place - 3.28 million tonnes (43.4%). The second place was taken by iron ore (35.8%), while ferrous metals came third (5.5%).

At the end of January-May 2024, export transportation of iron ore amounted to 15.23 million tonnes, which is 2.1 times more compared to the same period last year.

Compared to May 2023, iron and manganese ore shipments increased by 97.6%.

Ukrzaliznytsia increased the transportation of iron and manganese ore by 2.8% in May compared to the previous month, reaching a volume of 2.7 million tonnes. Compared to May 2023, the figure was up 97.6%.

Ferrous metals transported for export in May totalled 415,000 tonnes, up 1% compared to the previous month but down 12.1% compared to April 2023.
