The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Türkiye and Ukraine was signed during President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's visit to Kyiv on February 3, 2022. Türkiye ratified the agreement in October 2024, with both sides stating that it would enter into force once each country had completed its domestic approval procedures.
Following Ukraine's ratification, Turkish Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat announced on social media that "another historic milestone has been reached in the Türkiye–Ukraine Free Trade Agreement."
Bolat described the ratification as the beginning of a new chapter in economic and trade relations between the two countries, stating that "the doors have been opened to a new era of economic and commercial cooperation between Türkiye and Ukraine."
He noted that the agreement will liberalize approximately 90% of bilateral trade, strengthening the competitiveness of Turkish exporters in the Ukrainian market.
The minister also said that the FTA's entry into force will bring Türkiye and Ukraine significantly closer to achieving their shared goal of increasing bilateral trade to $10 billion.
