The UK wire mesh market has been heavily affected by the changes seen within the industry. In the last weeks of April, the market was up by around USD 7 to USD 587, with slight price fluctuations during the week.
According to SteelRadar data, prices decreased by USD 4 on May 1 to USD 583.50, but recovered to USD 586 on May 2. Rising energy prices in the UK, which have remained volatile, have increased the costs of producers and put pressure on end product prices, narrowing the profit margins of producers in the market and increasing the costs of other stakeholders in the supply chain.
Wire mesh, which closed the first week of May at 584 USD, remained stable for a while and started the second week of the month at 585 USD.
Sources pointed out that the downward trend in steel prices continued in the short term and it took time for the market to find a balance, and attributed the current wire mesh price of USD 580 on May 21 to the disrupted balance. However, a recovery in global demand is expected in the long term and this is expected to have a positive impact on prices.
