Total wire rod imports decreased by 60% compared to the previous month. Looking at the countries in the top 5 in the import ranking, we see that imports from Malaysia, in particular, dropped by 87.9%. Wire rod imports from Malaysia dropped from 53,94 tons to 6,451 tons in October, indicating a significant decrease.
Imports of wire rod from Russia also decreased. In October 2023, Türkiye's wire rod imports from Russia decreased by 23.4% compared to September, from 13,170 tons to 10,85 tons.
There was a remarkable increase in wire rod imports from Kazakhstan. Imports, which started with 3,5 tons in September this year, increased by 100% in October.
Moreover, Türkiye's wire rod imports from the United Kingdom fluctuated in the January-October period. In October, imports increased by 56% from 2,867 tons to 4,473 tons, moving up to 4th place in the ranking. However, the import figures of February and May this year could not be exceeded.
Wire rod imports from Spain decreased by 39.2% in October. Compared to September, imports decreased from 4,303 tons to 2,617 tons, showing the changes in this area.
When we look at the country's total import figure, total imports in the month in question decreased by 61% compared to the previous month, from 76,439 tons to 29,659 tons.
