The Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources shared data on Türkiye’s electricity installed capacity as of the end of August. In Türkiye, where the total electricity installed capacity reached 120,784 megawatts, renewable energy capacity exceeded 74,000 megawatts, while electricity generated from domestic resources surpassed 85,000 megawatts.

In its statement, the ministry emphasized that they continue to reduce energy dependence, strengthen supply security, and support development goals.

Hydropower plants had the highest capacity with 32,289 megawatts, representing a 26.7% share. They were followed by natural gas plants with 24,743 megawatts and a 20.5% share.

Among renewable energy sources, solar power plants had the second-highest capacity after hydropower. Solar energy capacity reached 23,877 megawatts, accounting for 19.8% of the total installed capacity. Wind power reached 13,867 megawatts, corresponding to an 11.5% share.

During the same period, domestic coal reached 11,477 megawatts, imported coal 10,456 megawatts, biomass 2,341 megawatts, and geothermal power plants 1,734 megawatts of installed capacity.
