Türkiye’s January exports surpassed USD 1 billion in four provinces and 35 provinces recorded growth

The Ministry of Trade announced export figures by province of activity for January. Accordingly, Istanbul, Kocaeli, Izmir, and Bursa each recorded exports exceeding USD 1 billion, while 35 provinces posted an increase in exports.

In January, Istanbul ranked first in exports with USD 4.117 billion. However, the city’s exports decreased by 16.4% compared to the same month last year. Istanbul was followed by Kocaeli with USD 2.546 billion and Izmir with USD 1.795 billion in exports. Kocaeli’s exports declined by 4.2% year-on-year, while Izmir’s exports decreased by 11.3%.

In Istanbul’s exports, precious or semi-precious stones ranked first with USD 804.034 million. This was followed by knitted apparel and accessories with USD 421.706 million, and boilers and machinery with USD 411.027 million.

In Kocaeli, motor vehicles accounted for the highest export value at USD 939.468 million. Electrical machinery and equipment followed with USD 269.062 million, and mineral fuels and oils with USD 208.574 million.

In Izmir, mineral fuels and oils topped exports at USD 410.298 million. Boilers and machinery followed with USD 157.308 million, and motor vehicles with USD 151.429 million.

The top export destinations of the three leading provinces in January were also announced. For Istanbul, the United Arab Emirates ranked first with USD 420.425 million, followed by Germany with USD 338.269 million and the United States with USD 217.934 million.

Kocaeli exported the most to Germany, totaling USD 236.008 million. Germany was followed by the United Kingdom with USD 219.625 million and Italy with USD 173.748 million.

Izmir’s largest export market was Germany with USD 181.792 million. Germany was followed by the United States with USD 151.865 million and the Netherlands with USD 146.469 million.
