According to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), industrial production increased by 3.4% in March 2025 compared to the previous month and by 2.5% compared to the same month last year.
Industrial production, which contracted on a monthly basis in January and decreased on both monthly and annual basis in February, signaled a recovery in March. In February, industrial production decreased by 1.6% m/m and 1.9% y/y.
Notable increases in sub-sectors
Analyzing the sub-sectors of industry, the strongest annual increase in March was recorded in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and distribution. Production in this sector increased by 6.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, while mining and quarrying grew by 4.9% and manufacturing industry grew by 2%.
On a monthly basis, mining and quarrying sector recorded the highest increase with 8.2%. Manufacturing industry production increased by 3.7%, while electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and distribution sector decreased by 3.5%.
This recovery in industrial production indicates that economic activity is gaining strength as we enter the second quarter of the year.
