The World Steel Association (worldsteel) announced crude steel production figures for June 2025. Accordingly, Türkiye's crude steel production decreased by 3.5% to 2.9 million tons.
In the January-June period, crude steel production decreased by 1.7% to 18.3 million tons compared to the same period of 2024. In the same period of 2024, production was recorded as 18.6 million tons.
According to data from the Turkish Steel Producers Association (TÇÜD), production at electric arc furnaces (EAF) increased by 4.1% to 12.8 million tons in the same period. Production at induction furnaces (IO) decreased by 11.8% to 617,146 tons. Total EAO and IO production increased by 3.3% to 13.4 million tons. Production in basic oxygen furnaces (BOF) decreased by 13% to 4.9 million tons.
On a product basis, billet production increased by 3.2% to 11.7 million tons, while slab production decreased by 9.2% to 6.7 million tons. In June 2025, total crude steel production decreased by 3.5% compared to June 2024 and stood at 2.9 million tons. Compared to May 2025, production was decreased by 9%. EAF production increased by 2.4% to 2.01 million tons in June, but decreased by 9.8% compared to the previous month. Production of IO decreased by 18.6% compared to June 2024 and by 15.6% compared to May 2025 to 91,132 tons. Total EAO and IO production increased by 1.3% to 2.1 million tons compared to June 2024, but decreased by 10.1% compared to the previous month. BOF production decreased by 14.7% compared to June 2024 and by 5.9% compared to May 2025 to 765,953 tons.
