Turkiye's crude oil imports from Russia reached a record

At the beginning of November, Turkey's imports of Russian Urals crude oil are expected to reach record levels, while other major buyers, India and China, are expected to keep their purchases steady despite planned lower shipments.

Turkiye's crude oil imports from Russia reached a record

According to London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) data, Turkiye's imports of Russian Urals crude oil are expected to exceed 1.43 million tonnes in November, an all-time high recorded in October 2022, above 1.4 million tonnes in October.

According to LSEG data, more than 800 thousand tons of Ural oil was loaded per day from Russian ports to be shipped to Turkish ports during the period of November 1-15. This shows that Ural oil imports increased by 200 thousand tons compared to the same period in October.

Especially with the influence of the agreement made by the STAR refinery with the Lukoil company to purchase Russian Ural crude oil, Turkiye began to import Russian oil more economically.

This increase in Turkiye's energy imports represents an important development that can shape the country's energy supply security strategies by affecting the dynamics in regional energy markets.
