Türkiye and the United States have signed the “Strategic Civil Nuclear Cooperation Memorandum of Understanding” to enhance cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. The agreement was signed by Türkiye’s Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio following a meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.
Minister Bayraktar stated on his social media account that the long-standing and multifaceted partnership between the two countries will deepen in the field of nuclear energy as well, adding, “We hope this cooperation will bring mutual benefits to both countries.”
The agreement envisions the sharing of technology and knowledge related to Türkiye’s nuclear energy projects. Additionally, cooperation in the field of LNG (liquefied natural gas), which will support energy supply security, is also reported to be part of the agreements.
