Türkiye and Qatar strengthen economic cooperation

The Türkiye-Qatar Joint Economic and Financial Committee Meeting, which was organized to further improve the economic relations between Türkiye and Qatar, was held in İstanbul on 19-20 February 2025.

At the meeting co-chaired by Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Treasury and Finance, and Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, Minister of Finance of Qatar, important decisions were taken to deepen the strategic cooperation between the two countries. After the talks, the Joint Economic and Financial Committee Protocol was signed.

High Level Representatives Attended

The meeting was attended by senior officials from Türkiye and Qatar. In a statement released by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, it was stated that the two countries took concrete steps to strengthen cooperation in areas such as trade, banking, finance and tourism within the framework of strategic partnership.

Bilateral Meetings and Agreements

On the first day of the meeting, technical delegations held extensive talks on issues such as economy, finance, trade and tourism. On February 20, Minister Mehmet Şimşek and Qatari Finance Minister Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari held direct bilateral talks.

In the official meeting held after the meetings, deepening the economic relations between Türkiye and Qatar and evaluating new investment opportunities were discussed. The Joint Economic and Financial Committee Protocol signed at the end of the meeting aims to further advance the economic and financial cooperation between the two countries.

With this agreement, the strategic partnership between Türkiye and Qatar is further strengthened and mutual investments and trade volume are expected to increase in the future.
