According to foreign trade statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute ( TUIK), Türkiye's flat steel imports decreased by 20 per cent in June compared to the previous month, but increased by 17 per cent compared to the previous year.
Accordingly, Türkiye's flat steel imports decreased to 919 thousand tonnes in June compared to May.
In the first month of the year, Türkiye's flat steel imports decreased by 14% compared to the same month of the previous year, from 801 thousand tonnes to 687 thousand tonnes.
Flat steel imports increased by 4% in February compared to the first month of the year
This increase was not enough and Türkiye's flat steel imports decreased by 17% from 863 thousand tonnes to 715 thousand tonnes compared to February last year.
Türkiye's flat steel imports increased by 32% in March compared to the previous year
Türkiye's flat steel imports increased by 26% in March compared to the previous month and amounted to 904 thousand tonnes.
Türkiye's flat steel imports increased by 2% in April compared to the same month of the previous year
On the other hand, flat steel imports decreased by 16% y-o-y to 756 thousand tonnes in April compared to March.
May flat steel imports reached the highest level
Türkiye's flat steel imports increased by 53% y-o-y to 1 million 158 thousand tonnes in May compared to April.
With this increase, Türkiye's flat steel imports reached the highest level in May in the January - June period.
In June, Türkiye's flat steel imports decreased by 20 per cent compared to the previous month and increased by 17 per cent compared to the previous year.
Thus, Türkiye's flat steel imports decreased to 919 thousand tonnes in June compared to May.
