Tosyalı Holding and Contemporary Istanbul Foundation collaborate: Innovations in art and sustainability continue

As part of its long-term collaboration with the Contemporary Istanbul Foundation, Tosyalı Holding is preparing to exhibit an important asset at the 18th edition of Contemporary Istanbul. The Yard by TOSYALI Holding and Sculptor Varol Topaç's extraordinary work, created with the upcycling technique of steel production waste, will meet the art lovers of Contemporary Istanbul. This collaboration draws attention as an expression of the strong bond between art and sustainability.

Tosyalı Holding, which draws attention with its sustainability-oriented activities based on respect for the environment and nature with innovative solutions, will participate in Contemporary Istanbul, which will be held for the 18th time at Tersane Istanbul between 28 September and 1 October, with support in two different areas.

Works by 5 international artists will take place

The Yard, an exhibition of outdoor sculptures, videos and installations, will be curated by Marc Oliver Wahler for its third edition this year. This exhibition, in which industrial objects are transformed into fascinating works of art, will meet the audience in a dynamic way in interaction with the environment. This exhibition, which will be realised in cooperation with Tosyalı Holding, will also include the works of 5 international artists.

Sculptor Varol Topaç will exhibit a kinetic moving work created from waste materials

A work by Varol Topaç, created with the upcycling technique from steel production waste in Tosyalı Holding's 'Sustainable Art' collection, will be exhibited at the 18th edition of Contemporary Istanbul. Sculptor Varol Topaç, Deputy Director General of the Izmir Painting and Sculpture Museum of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, who brings a completely different dimension to the art of sculpture with his different interpretation and perspective, will add a new perspective and interpretation to sustainability by creating a kinetic moving work from Tosyalı Holding's steel waste suitable for recycling.

Tosyalı Holding and Contemporary Istanbul Foundation in its 3rd year

In 2021, Tosyalı Holding initiated a long-term collaboration with the Contemporary Istanbul Foundation and sponsored the exhibition of the legendary sculptor İlhan Koman, regarded as the "Turkish Leonardo da Vinci", at the 16th Contemporary Istanbul, supporting sustainable art and raising awareness of upcycling in art. In 2022, Contemporary Istanbul hosted leading artists from Turkey and around the world as part of the "Artist in Residence Programme". The artists visited Tosyalı Holding's facilities in Osmaniye and selected the materials for their works. The exciting works created by the artists from used and scrap iron and steel products were presented to art lovers at the 17th Contemporary Istanbul in September.

71 contemporary art galleries from 22 different countries

Contemporary Istanbul, with the main partnership of Akbank, will meet at Tersane Istanbul with its new programme on 26 - 27 September, Preview Days and 28 September - 1 October, General Visiting Days. The 18th edition of Contemporary Istanbul will host the works of 71 contemporary art galleries, initiatives, art institutions and artists from 22 different countries. With its historical Golden Horn atmosphere, Tersane Istanbul will once again host art lovers at Contemporary Istanbul.
