The completion of the project and the first slab production were celebrated at the event organized with the participation of Mona Neubaur, Minister of Economy of North Rhine-Westphalia, Duisburg Mayor Soeren Link and many guests.
According to the statement made by the company, this project, which was realized with an investment of approximately EUR 800 million, has created one of the most advanced production networks in the European steel industry. This investment stands out as one of the largest projects thyssenkrupp has realized at its Duisburg site in recent decades.
The new production network includes a modern hot rolling mill, two energy-efficient walking beam furnaces, a high-precision continuous casting line and a fully automated slab storage area. This advanced infrastructure will ensure greater flexibility, resource efficiency and high quality standards in production. In particular, the production capacity and quality of products for e-mobility, energy technologies and lightweight construction applications will increase significantly.
thyssenkrupp Steel has achieved a significant technical and logistical success by integrating the new facilities into existing infrastructure, without interrupting production and completing the project in just three years.
Company officials emphasized that this investment is of great importance both for the future of the steel industry and for the economic development of Duisburg.
